"Joy" Family Retreat

We had a great time at camp for families with children with disabilities! God blessed us with new families as well as old ones, a caring group of volunteers, an experienced team of Americans, great weather with not a single rainy day, and JOY!  Parents had opportunities to relax and fellowship together while volunteers played with their children.  They were also able to have consultations with the American therapists and to listen to seminars from the American parents of children with disabilities.  There were testimonies from volunteers of how God has changed their lives, as well as Bible teaching in small and large group sessions.  We are so thankful for all the ways that God blessed the week and we are thankful for those who prayed.  Please join us in praying for God's continued work in the hearts of those who came.

Ready to welcome the families!

Teenagers with cerebral palsy, like Pasha (above) and Anya (below) were able to utilize the electric wheelchairs.  Anya was super excited that the electric wheelchair allowed her to keep up with everyone during the games!

Sveta helped Susan in the quiet room during the small group Bible studies.  Susan brought sensory activities that would help to calm children who were unable to sit attentively in their small groups the entire time.  Pasha, who has autism and is constantly active, was a daily visitor to the room.  The room and activities were great to provide him with the calm environment he needed, while also allowing the groups to continue their lessons.

As you will see in the pictures below, smiles were abundant and the activities were many at this camp. I hope it puts a smile on your face to see the joy that radiates from these children.  They certainly are precious children and I am thankful we could serve them and their families over these days!
